President Donald Trump said Friday he would make a “final determination” on an Iran agreement, while Tehran insisted no deal has been finalized and fighting continued across the Middle East.
The potential US-Iran accord remains in flux as both sides signal different positions on the negotiation status. Iranian officials have emphasized that discussions are ongoing but no final understanding has been reached between Washington and Tehran.
Where Negotiations Stand
Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, told reporters that Tehran would evaluate any proposed agreement by “actions rather than words,” according to state media. He added that Iran would not take steps forward unless the United States moved first on its commitments.
Trump indicated he was still determining the path forward on the accord, without providing specifics on timing or conditions. The American position remains unclear as discussions continue between the two nations.
Fighting Intensifies Elsewhere
Beyond the diplomatic efforts, military operations continued in the broader region. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israeli forces had pushed operations past Lebanon’s Litani River in recent days.
Israeli military strikes across Lebanon on Friday resulted in additional civilian casualties, with reports indicating dozens of people were killed or wounded in the attacks. The escalation underscores the ongoing conflict affecting multiple countries across the region.
