Trump’s Secret Turkey Departure Revealed as New Footage Shows Elaborate Aircraft Switch
A highly unusual security operation surrounding President Donald Trump’s departure from Turkey has come under renewed scrutiny after newly reported details and video footage appeared to reveal how authorities concealed the president’s actual aircraft during his journey to Britain.
The operation reportedly took place after Trump attended the NATO summit in Ankara in July. At the time, the president publicly boarded the older Air Force One in front of cameras, creating the appearance that he would be traveling on that aircraft. Behind the scenes, however, security officials had reportedly arranged a far more complicated plan.
According to reporting from The Washington Post and other outlets, Trump was secretly transferred from the aircraft using an airport catering truck. The truck, equipped to reach the aircraft door, reportedly transported him across the airport to a smaller military C-32A aircraft.

Earlier reporting had already revealed that the Secret Service urged Trump to use the older Air Force One as a precaution amid escalating tensions with Iran. Reporters and some White House personnel reportedly boarded the older Air Force One believing the president was traveling with them. The C-32 is a specially configured Boeing 757-200 used to transport senior U.S. government officials and is designed for secure long-distance travel.

Trump had previously said the older Air Force One was being used for the short trip to Britain while the newer aircraft, donated by Qatar, was sent ahead so military personnel could tour it. At the time, he also referred to threats against him from Iran and said he was a major target.
The latest reporting has now added another layer to that episode, revealing the extent to which officials apparently went to conceal Trump’s actual location.
Perhaps the strangest part came after the aircraft reached Britain. The older Air Force One landed carrying members of the press who believed they had traveled with Trump. Yet Trump was later seen exiting that same aircraft, creating questions about how he was transferred back onto it after arriving separately aboard the C-32A.
The episode has generated debate over presidential security, transparency, and the risks involved in using a decoy aircraft when members of the press and staff may be unaware of the president’s actual location.
The White House has defended the broader security measures as necessary precautions in an environment of heightened threats. The operation also underscores the extraordinary lengths security officials can take when protecting a sitting president from a potential attack.
